(depending on which "finish" you buy.) Lasts quite well on my eye and in the package (had my same two colors of MAC shadow for years). However, try them first before you buy as not every shadow is the same in terms of consistency and blendability. They also don't irritate my sensitive eyes even if I wear them all day long. They last forever and are definitely worth the investment. They aren't super expensive considering the quality, though I've bought most of mine in the US where they cost about half what they do here in Aus. Second, they have a great selection of colours to choose from and are always adding limited edition colours to the range so that even those of us who have been collecting for ages don't run out of new ones to try!
